Comic Reading Chaos

So I love comic books, but due some changes in my life last year, (relatives living with us, buying/moving into a house, new job) I fell more than six months behind on some and close to a year on others. So, over the last few weekends, my husband and I have been playing catch up on them. Basically, we’ve dedicated our last free weekends before graduations/ weddings/birthdays take over our lives for a few months to comic books. Now we know which ones to take off our sub list and which ones to ensure stay on it.

A few that we are definitely keeping on our subscription list are:

  • Ms. Marvel
  • Invincible (written by Robert Kirkman [writer of the Walking Dead])
  • Chew
  • Harley Quinn
  • Batman
  • Letter 44

Those are just the irresistible ones. A few we are talking off are:

  • Deadly Class
  • The Empty Man

Both of those of are better read as a graphic novel / trade paperback. I really like the first story arc of Deadly Class, but I found it a lot easier to keep track of the story when I was reading a bunch at a time instead of monthly, which is how most comics are published. These are just a few notes from our recent comic catch up. I’ll probably have more once we finish catching up with current issues.

Comment Questions:

  1. What are you favorite comics right now? Share any of mine?
  2. Do you ever feel that a comic is better when read as a graphic novel? Preference?
  3. If you had to pick one graphic novel / graphic novel series to introduce a friend to them, what would you choose?
