First Award Nomination!

I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award! I am so honored that another blogger thought my blog was good enough to share with his/her readers. Thank you, Be Kitschig for the nomination. It’s perfect because the next task that I am completing for blogging 101 is to create a blogroll. This a fun way to participate and share some blogs I love!

My Homework

1. Why did you choose the name of your blog? I chose it to simplify the blog and to make it easy to remember.
2. Are you still enjoying it? Why (not)? Yes, because I actually changed not too long ago.
3. What do you do when you’re not here? Watch TV, play games(tabletop and video), play with my cat, go out with my husband.
4. Coffee or tea? TEA, OBVIOUSLY!
5. What was your first record ever? Britney Spears, Baby One More Time
6. If you had a never ending supply of money and all your needs were being met, what would you do with your life? Go back to college for advanced degrees and travel Europe with my husband.
7. Which show from your childhood do you still really love? Star Trek: Voyager and Boy Meets World. And Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
8. Would you like to share a guilty pleasure? No. lol. Okay, fine. I like to watch true crime shows and judge my own craziness against the killers. So far, the killer beat me every time(and they should).
9. Freedom is … helping others. Giving away the remainder of my lunch to a guy on the street or buying tires for a friend who can’t afford but desperate needs them are things that make me happy with myself for doing. It’s a real freedom from the daily guilt and self-hate that comes with my depression. I have even looked into getting a master’s degree recently in Community & Youth Service.
10. Kitsch is …adorable. Kitschy things have their place and are always fun.

That was more fun than I expected it to be. I hope you all learned some new things about me, and I hope to learn some about you. Here are my nominations and homework for you.

Your Homework

  1. What made you want to start a blog?
  2. Do you family/friends know about your blog? Why or why not?
  3. Describe the last piece of mail you received that was not a magazine, an ad, an offer of some kind, a bill / company or institution asking for money, a subscription, or something you ordered.
  4. What’s your favorite type of flower?
  5. What’s your favorite color? Does it ever change?
  6. Where is your favorite place to blog?
  7. What was the last tabletop game you played?
  8. What’s the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
  9. What is your all time favorite book if you could only pick one?
  10. Coffee or tea?

Hope you like your homework. They were questions that I want to know the answers to, and I hope it doesn’t narrow the audience too much. 🙂

Kitty Cat’tastic!

While the blogging 101 task nine required us to get inspired by a comment we wrote on a post, I was struck with the inspiration to write a silly poem. It was a bit of mixed inspirational journey between two comments I left on different posts. The idea to write a poem came from this whimsical poem. The idea to make it about the bundle of fur keeping my toes warm came from this silly list.

She snuggles on my toes

a peaceful spirit who likes to cuddle

Nudges my hand with her nose

and loves to laze in the sun puddle.

She’s a lover of the outside,

Master of seek and hide.

She’ll roll over on command

and a treat she will demand.

For loneliness she’s a remedy

my sweet cat, Melody.

Nakesake from Doctor Who

She’s not a fan of TV

She wouldn’t like it if she knew

But she would forgive me.

Keeper of my secrets

Warmer of the blankets.

There’s no other possibility

It has to be my Melody.

It’s not the best poem I’ve ever written, but it’s not the worst either. She’s also crawling on my keys as I try to finish this post. She is a constant source of inspiration to me. I have written about her many times in my manuscripts, and I talk about her at work. My husband is jealous that I am closer to her. She likes to sit between me and the laptop when I try to blog. It’s too adorable to force her out, so I just try to make due with her there because I love her. Hope you enjoyed this post.
